Thuru Kapakaru
On June 18th, the Leo Club of Wickramasinghepura unveiled THURU KEPAKARU, a tree plantation project in
collaboration with Sirasa TV, Sirasa Gammadda, and SLON Water Company. This initiative stands out for its
innovative approach, integrating community engagement and sustainability with technology.
The THURU KEPAKARU mobile app allows users to search for tree names and locate rare tree species planted by
our program. It also provides location tracking to discover where these unique trees are planted and enables
users to save and share details of tree planters, fostering a sense of community and accountability.
This project aims to enhance our green cover while promoting environmental awareness and public participation.
