Heena Ahuru


The project “Heena Ahuru” project, was held on the 01st October 2024, at the Unriue Pre School, Thalawathugoda. This was an initiative aimed to bring joy and create memorable experiences for 19 children. The project featured fun activities such as face painting and singing, designed to entertain and engage the children.
The Children’s day is celebrated with these little kids to bring out the true essence of the joy of celebrating together with others. To make the day even more special, gifts were distributed to each child, celebrating the occasion and bringing smiles to their faces. The project aimed to create happiness, foster a sense of connection, and make Children’s Day a delightful celebration for these young participants. The project became a success with the contribution from the club members and Lions club of Wickramasighepura.

Eka Iththaka Mal


On October 5th, 2024, the Wickramasinghepura Leo Club successfully completed Phase 01 of the project 'Eka Ithaka Mal' at the Madiwela Boys' Home with the collaboration of Leo clubs of Kalubowila and Leo club of Koswatta United. This initiative aimed to support the well-being of the 22 boys residing at the home by providing a highly nutritious and delicious lunch, ensuring their dietary needs were met. In addition to the meal, the club generously donated essential items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, dry rations, and fresh vegetables, further contributing to the boys' daily necessities.
'Eka Ithaka Mal' stands out as a key project for our club, emphasizing our commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable children. By focusing on both nourishment and essential supplies, this project highlights our dedication to holistic care. The success of this phase reinforces our mission to continue serving the community through meaningful contributions, and we look forward to the upcoming phases of this impactful initiative.

Diriya Divimaga 2.1


On 6th October 2024, the Leo Club of Wickramasinghepura, in partnership with the Saheli Foundation, hosted the Diriya Diwimaga2.1 project at Welikada Prison. The event commenced at 10:30 PM and focused on addressing period poverty and promoting menstrual hygiene for incarcerated women.
During the event, more than 500 sanitary napkins were donated to the prison. Additionally, an informative session on menstrual hygiene was conducted by Ms. Geilee Skandakumar, an experienced counselor and passionate advocate for gender equality, SRHR, and human rights. Geilee, a UN Women 30 for 2030 awardee, shared her expertise and dedication with the attendees.
Working within the prison system has highlighted the systemic failings that often lead individuals to commit crimes. Recognizing this, our organization remains committed to supporting marginalized and vulnerable communities. This initiative underscores our dedication to empowering women and addressing critical health issues in underprivileged settings.

Safer Tomorrow


The Wickramasinghepura Leo Club conducted Project 'Safer Tomorrow' at Isipathana College, Colombo, on 8th October. The event, held in collaboration with the Colombo Fire Brigade, focused on educating Prefects, Cadets, Scouts, and senior students on fire safety. The students were briefed on proper conduct during a fire emergency, including evacuation procedures and the responsibilities of senior students in ensuring the safety of others.
The lecture also covered the scientific aspects of identifying different types of fires, with guidance on how to react to each type. In addition to the theoretical knowledge, students were provided with practical experience by interacting with the latest fire truck, with fire brigade officers explaining its features and operations. The project aimed to equip students with essential skills to manage fire emergencies, fostering a safer school environment.

Hygiene Kit Distribution


The project "Hygiene Kit Distribution" was an inspiring twinning project between the Leo Club of Wickramasinghepura and the Leo Club of Kandivali Lokhandwala Township. It aimed to promote good hygiene practices among children in need. Held on October 26, 2024, the project focused on providing essential hygiene supplies to 18 children at the LOLC Child Care Centre in Madiwela.
Each child received a carefully prepared kit containing baby soaps, baby cream, a toothbrush, and toothpaste. In addition, a tile cleaner was donated to help the center’s staff maintain a clean and safe environment for the children. This project was a testament to the strength of international connections, as it began through Instagram, showcasing how social media can unite communities to address important needs.

Playful Minds


The "Playful Minds" project was initiated at the LOLC Child Care Centre on October 27, 2024, at 2.00 p.m., focusing on fostering unity and friendship among children from diverse backgrounds who live together. The session were conducted by Mrs. Miyurangani Karunathilake with the aim of helping the children get to know each other better, building meaningful connections and mutual understanding.
One of the key activities was a drawing session designed to explore the children's subconscious feelings, offering insights into their mental states and emotions. Through this activity, the children were encouraged to express their thoughts and feelings creatively, allowing facilitators to better understand their individual mentalities. The session created a supportive environment where the children could develop stronger bonds, promote self-expression, and appreciate each other's unique perspectives.

Nanawath Hetak


The Leo Club of Wickramasinghepura initiated the ongoing project Nanawath Hetak on the 28th of October 2024, with the aim of making a meaningful impact on the lives of Grade 13'students at St. Joseph's Seminary.
This initiative focuses on providing accounting lessons to students preparing for their advanced level examinations. Understanding the importance of accounting as a foundation for their future careers, the project seeks to bridge gaps in their knowledge and enhance their academic performance. The project will continue in the upcoming months, ensuring that the students receive consistent guidance and support. The interactive sessions, led by experienced Leos, combine theoretical concepts with practical examples to foster a better understanding of the subject matter. Through Nanawath Hetak, the Leo Club of Wickramasinghepura aspires to inspire these young minds, equipping them with essential skills for academic success and empowering them to pursue their dreams confidently.
